![]() anyhoo, i was wondering if there was much in the was of hacks available for gamecube games, like there are for xbox... there are 100s of hacked/modded maps available for halo2, for example. now, if there were 100s of hack songs available for donkey konga, i'd have to get in on that action ![]()

I don't believe there's a homebrew market out there for the Gamecube, but I could be wrong. As far as I know, there is only a region mod for the Gamecube, and all that does is allow you to play games from other regions (ie Japanese games on a US system). In lieu of that, you can buy a disc that lets you do the same thing for like $20.
AFAIK the only system that you can play full size cds on is the Panasonic Q unit...which, I'd love to have one but they're no longer made and the only place to find them is eBay. Basically, in Japan, Nintendo allowed Panasonic to put Gamecube hardware inside of a DVD player, so it was (essentially) a Gamecube that allowed you to watch DVDs. It took standard size cds/dvds whereas the Gamecube itself won't. Obviously anything homebrew you might find, you'd only be able to burn on cd or mini cd (and I think mini cds might be too large or not hold enough data) since standard issue cd/dvd burners don't take Gamecube sized discs with that amount of data. edit I stand corrected --- there are Gamecube mods out there and ways to use homebrew stuff on the Gamecube. http://www.qoobchip.com/ Apparently you can get replacement cases for the Gamecube that allow you to use full size cds and dvds. (The Qoob chip does allow you to use mini-DVD/DVDRW too.) Wow...I've been out of the loop. ![]() edit 2 There's also this http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/produ...l=1&ProdID=297 Lets you load homebrew off the memory card it comes with (only 8MB though). With the network adapter, you can rip games onto a running PC (using the GC's laser) and then play the games over the network off the PC's HDD. You also have to have Phantasy Star Online to activate the network adapter, which is only a 10Mb connection, so most games run slowly. The speed issue and the complexity are the reasons it never took off.
