Probably a misprint. Order one quick before this is fixed, perhaps Amazon will honor it. Doubt it though.

Red face I heard from a friend...

His order didn't go thru..He got promptly refunded..
BUT...I got to the point of "one in stock-shipping soon", which means it's boxed and probably picked up by UPS...if not, no big loss.

I think the difference is that i order alot (well, that's actually an understatement) from Amazon, and my friend doesn't. He also had friends who ordered something like 5-10 of them each...so...go fig.

Vic

(added note)
When they say "one in stock-shipping soon", it means that the order has already been processed and approved. I learned that when i ordered the PS2 and other some DVDs...(man, I still have 10 Preorders from Amazon that I'm waiting for)

Dear Customer:

Greetings from Amazon.com and Toysrus.com. We have new information about
your recent order and need your input before we proceed.

The Sega Dreamcast Console that you recently ordered from
Amazon.com/Toysrus.com was incorrectly priced. We apologize for the
inconvenience this may cause.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions
of items on our site may be incorrect. We do, however, verify prices as
part of our shipping procedures. If an item's correct price is lower than
our stated price, we charge the lower amount and ship you the item. If an
item's correct price is higher than our stated price (as it was in this
case), we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions
before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

Since your credit card was already charged for this item, it will be
necessary for us to issue a credit to your account for the incorrect price.
We'll send you confirmation of this refund within the next 2-3 business
days. You will receive another email from Amazon.com shortly that will
provide you with the ability to cancel your order or to proceed with your
order for the Sega Dreamcast Console at the correct price.

Finally, Amazon.com and Toysrus.com would like to offer you a $10
promotional certificate that you may use toward any future order at
Amazon.com. To redeem your certificate, just follow the instructions
below.

Again, we regret this inconvenience. Thank you again for shopping at
Amazon.com/Toysrus.com.

Sincerely,
Customer Service Department

Angry I can't stand when companies say that...

Basically story goes -

Dear Mindless Consumer,

We are truly sorry, but when you, the consumer, screw up, you have to deal with it and face the $$$ consequences, but when we, the big honking corporation, screw up, we just get to send you a nice e-mail telling you to pretty much fvck off, and we sit and wait for your next order, because, yes, as stupid consumers, you will order from here again!

So you're not going to get your fvcking Dreamcast for $10.00 loser!

Here's a lowly attempt to show our sorrow however, a $10.00 gift card to our store, which will buy you absolutely nothing of any value because our shipping is so fvcking expensive. But the $10.00 gift card is really for us. We'll lose no money on it, heck, we'll probably make money becuase you'll order more now because we tricked you into being all happy about giving you a free $10.00, when what we should have done was given you your $10.00 Dreamcast! That would have been the "good" thing to do (MMUUUAAAHHHHHAHAHAHA), and now that we think of it, you probably would have spent even MORE money with us buying games and **** for it. Oh well. We don't care.

Fvck off.

With deepest gratitude and sorrows,
Amazon.com

Any law students or lawyers want to weigh in on the legality of this one?

Could those who successfully ordered the $10 Dreamcast pursue Amazon to fulfill the sales contract/order?

I hope not. With so many companies that gave great deals going under, nowadays, I would hate to see Amazon join that list. Many times I have found items there for much cheaper than anywhere else(think Dec phone deal everyone jumped on). So cut them some slack, it was an obvious typo.

Angry type-o or not

I run a business (not really). I make an ad to mail around to everyone. It says X item is only $25.00 for a limited time (in Amazon's case, a few minutes). Come to my store and get X for $25.00. Dammit, I better plan on selling the advertised item for $25.00! If not, my ass gets reported to the Better Business Bureau, and I get a ****ty record...(which I'm sure Amazon.com already has since last Christmas!) Only difference is, that when people get mad at Amazon, they don't go somewhere else. They just keep going back to them!

Either way, I would be held acountable, and I would HAVE to sell the advertised item X for $25.00, or be a queer, and say the limited time was 4 seconds, and no one got it within that time frame. (which could be true in real life, but not in Amazon's case, as many people did purchase it, AND THEY WERE CHARGED ON THEIR CC FOR IT!!! That means YOU BOUGHT THAT ITEM FOR $10.00!!! PERIOD!)

My mailing out the ad is no different than Amazon.com putting it on a web page. It's an advertisement. Simple as that.

Amazon.com is the administrator of it's own sites, they should be in turn held accountable for the mistake...to which the $10.00 GC is not considered "accountable" a $10.00 Dreamcast would be.

Heck, I didn't even get to order one of these things for $10.00 Jesus...I don't even know why I'm wasting my typing!

I don't even know why people shop at amazon. Their **** is alot more then other web sites and they don't price match if you find it at a lower price somewhere else. Its a ****ty company and ****ty companys aren't around for long.

Only reason I order from them is because all these GC's I got from echo and vividence. Amazon can go to hell. (After I use my GCs)
