MicroCenter has the router for $50.00
The store will give you a instant $50.00 rebate.
And there is also a mail in rebate which is $50.00
A friend of mine told me bout it.

I think your friend is mistaken. the price is $149.99 - $50 instant - $50 MIR = $49.99

OK now I'm absolutely confused.

There are two micro centers? the first one (mei-mc) only has a mfr rebate listed and even then the final price is 49.99. the second micro center has it for 149.99 but minus the 100 in rebates i guess that the least you can get the product for in any case is 50 bucks. still not that bad but I hope I didn't get something horribly wrong, because when i first read your post i thought i'd be getting 50 bucks back ehh..it IS 5am and i really should sleep.

Sorry Guys!

The instant rebate is at MicroCenter only.
The Microcenter I am refering to is on the corner of Edingeer and the 55
http://www.microcenter.com/store_loc...ap_tustin.html
Others MC I do not know, sorry.
The Mail In Rebate is only good with a valid Microcenter Recipe and also the instant rebate i sonly good at MC ..doh.

I hope this clears everything up.

PS. my friend is NOT an and whatever.......I hate that site.
And beside my friend stop by there the day they where lining up the SMC on the shelves. I was gonna post that day but I wanted to make sure, so I post the day afterward.
And if I did take it from a site I would give proper props, which I did, which is my friend.

Thanks,

so the final price is $50? It's on my way to the Tustin Micro Center (this is in Orange County, Southern CA area near Los Angeles) so maybe I"ll stop by. It's on the 55 freeway at the Edinger exit across the fwy from the Santa Ana Auto Mall

Angry Found the $50 rebate. Too bad it expired.

Did a search and came up with this:

http://www.computers4sure.com/comass...ecial/2012.pdf

Hey techhi, if you get the rebate, will you consider scanning and posting it?

Just a suggestion =)

Question Is this a good router?

I'm in need of a router and I'm not sure if this is a good router. I would rather get a linksys or D-link router.. but if this is the same I probably get this cause the price is pretty good. Any suggestions?

MEI-Microcenter does have this deal, if you look at the linkage to the MEI site, it lists a 99.99 price, minus a 50 dollar mail in rebate. The mail in rebate is valid.

Re: Is this a good router?

This is a great router. The company is right down the street in Irvine. The support is outstanding. I don't know what determines if one is better than the other, but I can't see how the SMC product could be better, especially at 50 bucks!!!

Thumbs up

I run the 8 port version of this router after throwing the Linksys I had into the East River. My Linksys would drop connections constantly and I had to pretty much reboot everything on the network (damn thing doesn't even have a power switch), but since I've gotten this router, I've never had any problems. Aside from firmware upgrades, I've never had to reboot it. It's rock solid. I also ran the DSLReports security analysis against myself and nothing inside the NAT is visible from the outside. SMC usually makes really ugly, but very functional products, and the Baracade is no exception. Company wise, I don't think D-Link is quite in the same league.

recommend SMC

I highly recommend SMC for not only this router, but for their customer service as well.

I recently decided to buy a router and realized I had missed the $50 1 week promotion. So I called SMC and the Customer Service/Tech Support guy went so far as to put me on hold to research which stores where going to have the $50 rebate again.

So it seems that SMC alternates different retailers to have there 1 week only $50 rebate router deal. So if you need one, be patient and another different store will probalby have the rebate.

On a different note, I also purchased the Netgear 314, which from reviews is also an excellent Router. I had question about the rebate or something from Netgear, so I called their CS and the guy was all but rude. Now these are just 2 isolated incidences and maybe I got the SMC guy on a good day and the Netgear fellow on a not-so-good day. But long story short, SMC won my business and future recommendations. We also chose SMC because it has a print server. (which bacically means you don't have to turn on your second computer to use your second printer)

Bottom Line:
Be patient and the $50 rebate will probably come around again at a different retailer and yes the Router is an excellent router that includes a print server.

Hope this helps!
