CircuitCity.com: Free shipping, Rio 600 for $20

Circuitcity.com is offering free standard shipping all this week, and also has the Rio 600 MP3 player for $19 ($100 - $50 rebate - $30 rebate). One of the rebates requires the original UPC code, the other requires a copy (Yay!).

The 600 is an older player and expensive to upgrade (it comes with 32mb RAM and takes proprietary memory 'backpacks') but this may be a good deal if you're looking for a cheap backup unit (or decent gift).

No links since I don't think you can link directly to CC.com products. Go to the Weekly Ad link, then "Portable Electronics", and you should see it. It's also in their Sunday paper ad and should be available in-store.

They also have a 50 pack of Circuit City branded CDRs for free; currently out of stock but something to look for during the week to see if they re-stock.

Thanks, I ordered this figured I would do some research on it after the fact but for $20 ($27 after tax) how bad can it be.

Anyone got opinions on this unit. BTW it wasnt available from the website, I have to go pick mine up at the store.

Question Rebates

Circuit City seems decent, if a bit slow at times. As for SonicBlue, back when they were Diamond I had wildly different results-- once I had to really fight to get the rebate, and the other time a different rebate came within 4 weeks. Go figure.

As with all rebates, KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING!! Mark it on a calendar when to call to complain if it isn't received.

Careful... terms and conditions for Circuit City Rebates says "limit one rebate(s) per item" -- written at the bottom of each rebate form.

They may accept one $50 (or $30) rebate, but possibly not both.

*** I just noticed that one rebate is direct to Diamond and the other is to Circuit City -- so nevermind the warning above!

Unhappy So unfair

This is so unfair !!! After i saw this deal i got so exited i wanted to get this mp3 player soo much. It would be perfect for playing ball with for me and the 32 megs of memory is more then enough for $20 to me. When i finally went to checkout all i could see was out of stock everywhere, online and in my area. Now i cant stop thinking about it. lol . I keep going to the website and trying to checkout every ten minuts wishing that it will sudenly become in stock. I guess il just have to stick with my rio SP90 untill then.

Lightbulb Keep an eye out...

I'm sure Circuit City will restock these... it's on the front page of their paper ad this week, and I'd assume that they're like Best Buy (who restocks items twice a week). So there's a chance you'll still be able to get one.

$20 is just too cheap to not get one... amazing these things went for $200 not long ago.

i got one of these for free over a year ago while i was working with apple (before they released the iPod). The thing sucked. They gave it to me so i could demo how iTunes worked flawlessly with mp3 players. All i would have to do was plug it into the system and it would work. I give the thing credit for that, but that is more the OS's responbsibility than the devices.

It uses "backpacks" for memory expansion, and the interface is poorlyt designed when compared to the rio 500 that i have. The rio 500 is an older player, yet is much more superior in my eyes.
