Sams Club has 45 gig Western Digital 5400 RPM hard drives for 189, 30 gigs for i think 159, and 20 gigs for 129
and they ahve a 30 dollar mail in rebate so 45 gig = 159 30 gig = 129 20 gig = 109 my sams club had PLENTY of hard drives left, so grab um while you can!!! |

Anyone know whether OD has this drive so maybe a pricematch could be done? That could make a good deal even better.

from what I remember, no B&M will pricematch a "discount club", which is i believe that they call them..
if they did they'd lose on almost every product.. --jb |

A2-i just called my local sams club and office depot. sams has them in stock and office depot has them for 289.99 where i live making the drive 159.00 after the pricematch...then you still can apply the 30.00 rebate making the drive 129.99!!

You guys are doing some crazy ass math! Even if they did pricematch, you wouldn't get the drive for $159. They don't consider rebates in calculating the price match...it would be what Sam's is selling it for which is $189. Then again, since OD does 155% price match, you would actually get this drive for: (OD price $290 - Sam's price $190) = $100 X 155% = $155. Then $290 - $155 = $145 - $30 rebate = $115!!!!
But then again, from what I've read, office supply stores won't do the pricematch at all, so don't even try. You're just asking for a "You must be smoking something" look from the manager at OD. |

Heh...the funny thing is, while I worked at Office Place (Depot everywhere but Ontario) I gave that look to about 2 dozen ppl. Usually if we sold one or two we'd pull the item off the shelf and tell ppl we dont have em anymore. (Yet we could have 20 or 30 of em in the back) It was great fun.

Did anyone purchase the 45 GB hard drive and get any response about the rebate?
The actual rebate form i got from Sam's says: (front) <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>"Offer expires 30 days from date of purchase."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> but... (back) <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>"Offer valid...during the promotion period of March 15, 2000 to May 27, 2000."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> and... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>"Eligible capacities include 10.2 GB [model #], 13.6 GB, 15.3 GB, 17.2 GB, 18.0GB, 20.5 GB, 27.3 GB, and 30.7 GB."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The 40.5 GB drive isn't listed by WD as being eligible for the rebate, but the box for the 40.5 GB drive at the Sam's i visited had the $30 rebate sticker on it. Unfortunately, i was in a hurry so i didn't have time to ask anyone if the boxes were 1. out-dated and 2. mis-labeled. Anyone know anything about this or have a chance to ask anyone at Sam's about it? [This message has been edited by jameslee (edited 07-12-2000).] |

If sams is advertising the rebate for the 45 gig, and its not valid, then they have to give it to you for that price anyway
