I got a postcard in the mail about a new plasma TV promo Dell is doing. I wanted the $3000 off coupon but got a $600 off 42" plasma instead; your final price would be $2899 after the $600 off. You'd only be saving an extra $100 than if you used no coupon at all.

819WCSM85B6GF9

This is one use only, non-stackable. Please let everyone on the boards know if you use it.

Peace.

33% off EPP purchases over $1299 - ONE TIME.

I don't need it - please post if you use it.

This is for 33% off Dimension and Inspirons priced over $1299. Expires 4/13 and is one use. Remember this is for those who can purchase through their educational division. This will definitely bring a nice XPS down in price.

Code is GQGDWG3SNJHR95

Naaa - the Gen 2 is long gone (I bought mine at closeout nearly a year ago), however look for a good deal discount over in the Dell outlet division. They still have them.

If anyone has any stackable coupons, I'd really appreciate it! I was about to use the $65 off of $500 that popped up today for the first 2,000 uses, but now that I am home to make the purchase I see it was pulled about 3 hours ago.

TIA!!!

Hi,

Can someone explain how much Dell is paying got|apex? It's obvious that Dell is sponsoring the site; I just think that since this is a deals site, the sponsorship ought to be mentioned publicly. Otherwise it's like a stock analyst recommending a stock that he is actually holding. Same goes for any other company that pays something to be mentioned.

Ya think? Dell is the number 1 selling brand of PC, and people want the best deal on the #1 brand. If Apple was the number 1 brand of computer, there would be the Apple deal of the day. Actually Dell is so sneaky in their deals, that it is a topic all it's own. How they give some people better deals than others.

BTW there are deals posted for HP and Compaq products, who also have deals on their own web sites. I saw a good deal on a HP desktop at Office Depot, but after a HUGE amount of rebates. Found that HP sells the same unit directly for the same money after just a small rebate. A lot depends on who has deals, and who doesn't.

I mentioned Apple as an example - when was the last time you found a deal on a Mac? There aren't. Apple sells refurbished Macs at a discount, day in and day out. It changed by the stock on hand. Ditto for the Philips deals directly from Philips. Ditto for Dell's outlet store or Sears outlet store.

Don't assume there is a conspiracy going on here. Just my opinion anyway.

Not really. A stock analyst has to actually evaluate a company and make a recommendation. People depend on that impartial recommendation to make purchases, since they don't have the time nor resources to research the company themselves. Furthermore, the mere disclosure of their holdings can alleviate any issues they have.

Got|Apex? makes no illusions as to the fact that they get comissions. It is a company after all and it does cost money to run a site this big. Stock analysts don't have to make it knows *how much* stock they hold, just that they hold stock.

Furthermore, we don't pretend to be a review site for dell stuff. It is up to the purchaser to determine whether the system in question is good (looking at other reviews of the system in question).

Now, if we were to review a Dell then recommend it, linking to the deal, then that might be a questionable action.

What we do is more analagous to a market maker for a major floor stock exchange. We facilitate the flow of goods (stocks) and make money off of that flow (the bid-ask spread). Market makers, dealers, brokers..etc..can hold as little or as much of a stock as they want. They have rules also (trade priorities), but they are not held to the higher standard because they do not actually advise, they just grease the wheels.

Of course, GotApex could go away, as could every other deals site on the web, since they all make money the same way. The wheels would stop being greased and nobody would get good deals anymore. The efficient and frictionless market would ground to a halt, eventually to be replaced by other deals sites that will grease the wheels further.
