I'm looking to buy a new sound card (PCI). Can anyone recommend something decent for gaming and music? I'm looking to spend up to 50 (including shipping) but I'd prefer to go cheaper if possible...
College student budget...you get the point. |

Yup, go for a live. I haven't paid much attention to current prices on them, but I'll look around. You might want to get the mx300. That card uses A3D which is superior to CL's EAX. Also I think the mx300 is had for a cheap price.

Alas while A3D was superior than EAX, Aureal as kick@ss said is dead. Their assets were bought by Creative Labs. So its better to go with one of the SB Live! series of soundcards like the SBLive! value as chosenfool recommended.

Definately, SB Live Value. You'll be able to play games, listen to music, and get your ICQ "uh oh's" all at the same time.
Just checked and some places at http://www.pricewatch.com have it as cheap as $37 plus shipping. [Edited by cig on 10-02-2000 at 04:48 PM] |
