Alright all, this is half a competition post / half an index on what computers Gotapexers are running. Just list how much hard drive space you have total, and the speed it runs at (Example: UDMA 100, UDMA 66, UDMA 33, SCSI, RAID). If you don't know the speed, you run at UDMA 33.

Me: 107 GB @ UDMA 66

You are including LAN storage? :o

Hehe, if you include lan storage, then my new figure is:

Native: 107 GB
LAN: 110 GB

Total: 217 GB

- Roger

P.S.: Chosenfool, 650 mb? I threw away a 540 mb because it is not worth the effort to stick it into my box.

Well, my main home computer has 3gigs and change. However, I work at a state university, so if you want to count all the space on our WAN...

Probably doesn't count though, huh?

I currently have an 20 gig ATA100 72K Maxtor. And I have no idea why someone would need more than that. (with the exception of those extreme pirates who collect software rather than use it)

I have about 45 Gb, but pretty soon that nice lil' IBM 75 GXP should be in, so that'll up the ante to 120 GB .

Talking Why I have so much space: gwilks98

Well, in addition to personal use, my computer doubles as a file server. I store mostly multimedia stuff, and that is what takes up the majority of the space.

Why so much space? Because the MP3s I've ripped from my CDs alone total to 9 GB and I listen to them everyday! Why? Because I scanned all the headshots for my class yearbook, and each image takes 4MB X 150 students. Why? Because I store stuff for all the people's machines's I've backed up or built machines for.

Hehe, just got 2 45GB from my friend who didn't want them. Go fig! Hehe, I remember having a WD 1.6GB when 850 was the standard haha. HD space is where I waste my money.

Plus I love the 30GB online my dad gave me at his work. Defense companies with satellite uplink rule! Too bad I'm in class all day and can't abuse it

School Computer: (when the parts come in)
15 gig IBM 75GXP @ UDMA 100
2 x IBM 75 GXP 45 gig raided on a Fasttrak 66 (UDMA66)
Total of 105 Gb (I do video editing)

and if I store stuff on my roomate's computers through LAN without telling them, add another 110 Gb making 215Gb. But that don't count right?

Home Computer:
9 gig IBM 9LZX 10K rpm on Ultra2 SCSI
36 gig IBM 7200rpm on Ultra2 SCSI
Total of 45 Gb

As you can tell I like IBM hard drives!

puppie: You should just get an ABIT BX133-RAID board, that's what I use, and even though I don't stripe my drives, the new board would surely be better than a modded Fasttrak.

Paladin: Who arr you talking to?

Hey rogeryang, thanks for the advise, but I didn't mean that my Fasttrak was an Ultra 66, I just meant that it transfers at UDMA66 speeds despite the UDMA100 drives hooked up to it. Besides, I have an ASUS A7V, which I LOVE and don't want to change. Mebbe I'll mod a Ultra 100 if it's possible, does anyone know if it is?

Unhappy My computer...

Even though I can support raid with my motherboard, I am too scared to because I don't want one drive to fail and lose ALL of my data. I have had way too many drives fail on me to risk it. (BTW: Most of those drives were Western Digitals, AmRivlin)
