Exclamation

Howdy all. We (my roommates and I) are expecting a DSL line to be setup by Verizon/GTE in a few weeks, and have 3 occupants total to divide the line up by. We're a tad new at this, so, does anyone have any information about routers for sale? i.e. how much, what brand, or anything they might be willing to sell?

Thanks in advance for your help/input.

I've set up DSL in my house with 5 people using it. Our provider only gave us 4 IP's so we needed to use a DSL/Cable router. I'd check with your provider to see how many IP's they assign you. If they give you enough IP's for everyone in the house, then you only need to get a hub or switch (whatever you prefer). However, if you do not have enough IP's, go out and get a Linksys DSL/Cable router.

The absolute best solution right now, imho, is the SMC solution.

Router with 4 port switch AND a print server (so everyone can use the printer as well).

$153 from buy.com with $30 new customer discount, and free shipping (ends today), and $20 mail in rebate means you get perhaps the best low cost solution (yes, nicer than the linksys, netgear, dlink, and farallon) for about $103.

I'm using it and the setup couldn't be easier.

Opinions may vary, of course.

Now that sounds nice, wish I would gotten into that deal setting our network up, it would have saved up a little!
