Dual-Deck CD recorder hack?

A friend got one of those dual-deck Philips CD recorders.... yeah, yeah, I know. But I was wondering if there is something like the Dreamcast hack were you can put in a boot-disc of sorts in and then use regular CDR media to record... rather than the more expensive Audio CDRs.

Maybe I was dreaming when I thought I heard that there was something like that. But, maybe not. Please let me know your ideas... or experiences. Or, if you could recommend a web site for stuff like this... I'd appreciate that, too.
