Anyone using a Slingbox?
My brother and I are thinking about getting one. It would be installed on my tv and we would share access. It would be nice when I'm travelling to be able to watch channels that I don't have at the hotel.
Also, I wonder how good the picture would be using a lappy and a Sprint EVDO card. |

i have one connected to my standard def tivo, my dsl can upload 300KB, which is sufficient on my laptop. i use the verizon evdo card, and get good streaming, one issue which may bother some, is it only streams at 320*240, but even upped to 640*480 looks ok, fast moving sports has some blur, but was enjoyuing watching world cup on it, as well as my movies i tivoed on the road...
my buddy loves watching his on his treo 700, but alas i have a blackberry, so no mobile version. and only 1 person can be on at a time |

i had one.. but i sold it off on craigslist after 2 months.
i set it up so that my cousin overseas can watch tv, but the pq is pretty bad. If you don't mind a very small resolution, then this might be your thing, but even on his laptop, he just didn't like it. the product is a good idea, but i'll suggest to wait for a better version, where the pq will be better. I use cable connection cc hope this helps |

I have a slingbox, and I think I'll enjoy it even more when htty ecome out with software for my iBook. I mostly use it to watch baseball games at work, and my brother uses it to watch Deadwood and Sopranos.
When I'm really lazy, I'll use it to change the channel on my tv when I can't find the remote. The resolution isn't always the greatest, but it's better then no tv at all. |

i bought one and it's ticking me off. i have it hardwired to my netgear mr814 wireless router which is connected to my sdsl router. the lights are on indicating the slingbox has a network connection but when i try to set it up on my lappy (which is connected to the network via my wireless card) it says no slingbox found, or words to that effect.
i can't find anything on the help site that relates to my situation other than resetting the device and i've done that repeatedly. the helpline doesn't open until 10 am tomorrow and i was hoping to using it tomorrow morning. at least i have a 30-day return policy on the thing. any ideas? anybody know how i can look on my network and see if the device is there? i'm using win2k and don't really know how to search my network to see what's on it. thanks! |

Are the wireless network and the hard wire network on different subnets? Perhaps you Win2k computer has the subnet mask set too tight and it can't see it. Quick way to check is plug your laptop into the hardware as well, then compare the IP's.
