Dual Core Processor Questions
So Intel is touting a new dual core processor that's supposed to hit the market in August and I was curious about a couple things.
1) Is running 1 dual core processor equivilent to running the older style dual processor (2 chip) setup? 2) If yes to item 1, is there still a limitation of running software specifically designed to run on dual processors to actually take advantage of its architecture?

1) sorta, mostly yes The difference is the cache, and better bandwidth.
2)sorta, mostly yes. There is some speed bennys to running dual core even if they software isn't ready for dual procs, depending on the task. Operating system tasks get offloaded, for example.
