Parallel Scanner Support?

My roomate has a SCSI/Parallel Umax VistaScan S6E...

The support webpage offers a convient driver download, yet upon instalation no parallel drivers are supported... All that is avaliable is a scsi option... My laptop I want to use this with does not... No original materials exist...

Any Suggestions?
