whats going on!?!? 4.7 gig dvd only registers at 4.4gigs!

so here it goes...i don't know whats the problem...i'm using a roxio burning program and for some odd reason, my 4.7 gig dvds are only registering as 4.4gigs. i don't know why...i wonder if it's always been doing that, and i haven't noticed it before, or it just started doing it. shrug..anywho...i'm getting scerwed out of 300 megs. DOH....do help!

Don't DVDs use some of the space for a menu- telling a reader where the information can be found? Is that what it is doing when it says "finalizing disc"?

i'm just using the dvd as a data disc. i'm not trying to burn a movie on there. shrug*

whatever it is...maybe update firmware?!

So it basically works the same as hard drives.....capacity is in billions of bytes (not really "gigabytes")

like 500GB drives - formatted, it only comes up to 465GB.
