Hello,
Will a Pentium3 850E (8.5 X 100 MHz) Slot-1 processor work with a BH6 v1.0 motherboard (what BIOS version would I need to use)? Or would I need to use a FC-PGA processor + Slot-1 adapter to get the correct voltage? Thanks. |

The BH6 version 1.0 officially supports up to a Pentium III 700 Gordon24. However this does not mean the Pentium 850E won't work on your BH6 motherboard.
I have a BH6 version 1.01 motherboard. The latest SS bios does support Pentium III's up to 850Mhz. The reason why Abit doesn't come out and say that our motherboards will support that high a cpu speed is because some of the BH6 motherboards may have problems supplying the required cpu voltage. My feeling is that a Pentium III 850 will work on your motherboard. I'm not going to guarantee it though. I would use the latest bios which is the SS bios. http://www.abit.com.tw/english/downl...ios-bh6.htm#01 [Edited by sbp on 12-16-2000 at 05:34 AM] |
