Asus A7V
Duron 700mhz I just got the Chrome Orb because it was cheap and I am not goign to OC my Cpu that much anyway, but it is giving me problems now. Even without OC my CPU still runs at 42C. Wichi is only 5 degrees cooler than my stock. I can OC it about 750 and then anywhere after that it locks up on me. I did the pencil trick but it doesn't work. I can't even boot up, My PC turns on but it just does nothing. Please help |

As chosenfool said get better cooling for your duron. Global Win's F0P38, Alpha's PEP66t or PAL6035, and the SuperOrb will fit the bill.
http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/1/cat1.htm?229 http://www.coolerguys.com/CPUCOOL/Duron.htm It sounds the bridges are not unlocked yet. Repencil the bridges numerous times and see what the result is foolio. |

I would have gotten the Fop 38 but the noise level is what's holding me back. Are there any other fans out there that would allow me to OC my duron to at least 900 or even a gig.

I would but then, I kind of want to go low-budget, so I do not want to spend more than $25 for a fan.

"I would but then, I kind of want to go low-budget, so I do not want to spend more than $25 for a fan.' That must be some damn fan co$ting that much. Maybe the Pentagon would be interested in spending that much for a simple fan.
![]() Most 60mm fans cost $8.00 or below Now if your talking about a heatsink/cooler then thats different foolio. ![]() earplugs are pretty cheap ![]() |

I was using a chrome orb (before my little act of stupidity) on my 650 (o/c'd to 800). The chip was doing something around 107 at idle. While that's not great, it was good enough for me. I had the same problem that you're describing, and I found that it was because I left the voltage selection to automatic in the BIOS (you are using the BIOS aren't you?). After I changed it to manual and bumped it up to 1.70V, the machine ran great. Now, I have a Alpha, and while I'm sure it's great, I didn't quite install it right. I don't think I used enough paste, so the chip is running way too hot (137). Looks like I have a project for tonight...
