I need to run 3-way RCA video and audio cable from this computer at my parent's house with DVD-ROM to the big screen TV in the living room, which is about 15-20 feet away, or more depending on how I run the cable. Does anyone know where I can find such video cable in lengths of 20 - 25 feet (6 - 8 meters)? I found some monster cable that is 8 meters long, but it costs around $60-70 on amazon.com. Looking at the combined cost of the DVD decoder card, all of the adapters and the cable, I very well could have simply purchased a decent standalone DVD player! Anyone have any suggestions? I'm kinda stuck as this was to be my Christmas gift to my parents. (And yes, I am a poor college kid, so I'm not trying to be cheap.)

you might as well just use a damn vcr, extending a cable that far will really F up the signal quality. the only other thing i can thing of is getting a radio device that sends signals using radio waves to any other place in your house. Problem is that those run around 100 bucks.

Do you really think that the signal will degrade that much over 8 meters? The connections are gold plated, and supposedly monster cable is some of the best there is. If the distance caused that big of a problem, I wouldn't think that they would make the cable in lenghts of 8 meters... but that's just my thinking...

yes, especially since your going to use composite and not S-video.

Well, there is an S-Video port on the H+ card, but it is not an S-Video TV. The S-Video port has 4 extra pins that serve as the composite connection, so I had to buy a proprietary $12 adapter to even get the composite signal output. I have considered moving this desk to a wall closer to the TV, but this is the only wall on which it fits. Sounds like I'm basically screwed.

Hmmm, hapoo, very interesting. I'd be willing to spend that much if it meant that I could return all of the adapters and cable. I wonder what the quality is like?? I can't find any specs or requirements on the site though...

one of my friends dad needed to do a similar thing and i suggested this. He bought one from radio shack and had it going much further than your going to have it. The picture quality was pretty good considering the distance. The only problem was that the sending and recieving end had to be lined up pretty well. If they were moved more than an inch the signal would go away. Keep in mind this was over 100 feet on a 13 inch tv.

Well, I just ordered the Entertainment Everywhere package. It has a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if the quality sucks, I can simply return it and figure something out later. Now if I could just be certain that this will arrive before Christmas... I wanted my grandpa to see Saving Private Ryan on the big screen via DVD...

It should be fine 25 feet for a composite rca cable. But monster cables are not the best out there. . . there ****e to us cracheads in the audio/video market. They're just as good as your radio hut's phono cables. But yeah, the quality should be fine.

Well, I will give this wireless thingy a try and if it does not meet my standards, off with its head and back to x10 with it!! I can use the RCA cable as a fall-back.
