GPS? well...i...a...OK!!!

hehe...so i'm thinking about buying a gps unit for my car. What do you guys think is a good gps?

i've been eyeing 2 in particular. the tomtom one and the mio c220. i've read good reviews on both. and both are in my price range. i don't want all the bells and whistles like the $21,903,848,209,184 ones...i just want simple.

buy.com has the mio c200 for $165 (if you use google checkout), is this a good price?

buy.com has a refurb tomtom one for $170. (should i trust refurb?)

I have the Mio C220. Got it from Buy.com. I love it. There should be a review on Buy.com that I posted. Best deal around. The TomTom is also a great unit.

EDIT: My review isn't there. I gave it a favorable review except for a few minor things. I wonder why they didn't post it.

I rather pay more and get the TomTom 510 since it has built-in bluetooth, which could be used with cellphone as a hand-free system.

ahh yes...sorry i haven't posted a review!

but yeah...i love the mio c220! really easy to use. it froze on me once, i don't know what the problem was...but it hasn't froze since. i'm sure it uses some sort of fluid dynamics formula to plan out your route, and i've had a few minor kinks...but nothing too major. it's gotten me from a --> b many of times and has saved me lots of gas from not getting lost. recalculates VERY fast (i only have my friends prius gps to compare) and compared to that gps, the mio calculates very quickly. i went to a new part of town in Sacramento CA, (rocklin CA) and it couldn't find the address...so the map needs to be updated i think...but i don't know how to do that. that trip to rocklin CA was the only thing i've had problems with, but only because it was a newly built subdivision (within 1 year or so) so i don't think it was put into the mio database yet.

but i would say...99% of places i've gone too, the mio has gotten me there perfectly.

there are a great amount of statistics the mio gives. speed, elevation, eta, and lots lots more. (i can't remember them all) i know...bad review on my part. But overall, i've been VERY please for the price i paid ($135 on ebay). i know...it was really sketch to buy it on ebay...but i couldn't pass up $135. and it hasn't given me any problems so far...so i count it as a good buy =)

Okay. I'm glad you like your purchase. I've been using a Tomtom 910 lately. I really like it, and i'm thinking of getting an upgraded version ONE. Didn't know if you changed your mind and wanted to come over to the "dark" side with me lol. maybe next time.

Cheesy..does Mio use Tele Atlas maps? I keep reading about how great the POI coverage is. I haven't really fiddled with many of the POIs on my TT, but the maps have been pretty accurate and comprehensive.
