How To Do a Red Smoke Hand Grenade at Home

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/holy-smok...ome-292180.php

Here's a two-part video that will teach you how to easily do a massive smoke hand grenade using sugar, baking soda, organic dye and saltpeter, all common elements that anyone could buy. The first part above shows you how to do the grenade itself, while the second part after the jump show you how to do the fuse using matches, tape and a paper clip.

I used to spend 4th of July at a friends house who lived on a cul-de-sac. People on the street would sit out on their driveways with firepits and hang out while racing RC cars with fireworks taped to them up and down the street. The most fun was taping the smoke bombs to them and then running them up on someones driveway

Oh yeah, I remember making these in high school...The Jolly Roger was a good friend. ;-) I remember purchasing salt peter at the local drug store and the lady at the register would ask, "What's this for?" And of course I'd say "I dunno. My mom wanted it for something she's baking". Then they stopped carrying it...
