Apple Preps New iPod Launch for Early September – Media Reports.
Apple Readies New iPod Digital Media Players

Apple Inc., the maker of the world’s most popular digital media player, is rumoured to update the iPod lineup in early September, presenting a new breed of devices that will have improved operating system and, perhaps, feature-set.

Media reports from web-sites like Infinite Loop and Apple Insider claim that Apple is set to release a new breed of iPod digital music players with revamped user interface, which will resemble Mac OS X. While the details are not completely clear, it is rumoured that one of the new iPod’s to be introduced is the highly-anticipated touch-screen iPod, a gadget that is being talked about for more than a year.

Usage of Mac OS X on portable devices emphasizes Apple’s intention to unify its user interface across all consumer electronics and computer devices it ships, including Macintosh systems, Apple TV set-top-box, iPhone and iPod media players. This will give Apple an opportunity to offer its customers totally unified experience, which is likely to increase addiction to the brand by its customers.

The new iPod lineup is projected to be introduced on the 5th of September and some even expect the introduction to be massive and the new iPod gadgets to quickly become very popular among consumers.

Apple did not comment on the news-story.

I might get excited if they decide to do away with the unserviceable battery.

I will be buying a iPhone - Phone when it comes out. I used to make fun of iPods too. But I'll be damned if they don't just seem to work better than any other MP3 player I've used.

I personally haven't had any battery problems. I think mine is 1.75 years old, and gets anywhere from 1 to 8 hours of use daily. It gets charged maybe every 2-3 days.

Hmm, the iPod to me is an invaluable piece of technology. $250 for hours of sincere entertainment. I know some people have had problems with them but after several years of drops, recharges, a hit by a speeding subway and countless hours of use, mine still goes strong.

One of the new iPods they released this year is ugly looking. It's like a fat square. I'd post the pic but Apple threatened legal action on all the sites that had it posted (basically confirming it.)

Hit by a subway, how the hell......

Funny that they would threaten legal action...you'd think free advertising.

Funny, when I first saw this thread I almost posted something along the lines of this (wondering if Apple had threatened legal action yet). Like you stated, that's the surefire way to prove if an Apple rumor is true.

Hehe, I was in Prague running down the stairs trying to catch a subway I heard coming. As I got near the subway my ipod fell out of my hoody and I tried to catch it dangling from the headphones but it detached and my foot kicked it; it slid across the floor and the subway hit it and bounced back as it approached. I still managed to collect my ipod and catch the subway...with a few stares from people.

I couldn't care less about features. I don't need a touch screen. I don't need video playback. I don't need a state-of-the-art operating system. There was a time when Jobs said, "it's all about the music." I still believe in that. As long as I am provided with massive storage capacity so I can carry more of my music and great battery life, I will remain a loyal fan of the iPod.
