Shuttle Computer, a popular maker of small form-factor (SFF) personal computer (PC) barebones, on Wednesday unveiled its new system that features stylish design and advanced multimedia capabilities that is aimed at small office/home office as well as multimedia markets.

The new XPC barebone SG33G6 Deluxe features new chassis design that is black and has brushed aluminum on the front side. Shuttle calls the new series of its products as “XPC Glamor”, implying that the new series is all about visual. However, stylish outside does not mean the lack of power inside: the SG33G6 Deluxe system may feature central processing units with up to four cores and can connect to consumer electronics using modern high definition multimedia interface (HDMI).

Shuttle SG33G6 Deluxe barebone in based on Intel G33 core-logic that supports various Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core 2 Quad or Intel Pentium processors in LGA775 form-factor and up to 1333MHz processor system bus. The chipset also sports built-in Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 graphics core with DirectX 9 capabilities as well as HDMI interconnection with high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) technology, which will allow end-users to watch high-definition movies on modern HDTVs, provided that they have a Blu-ray or HD DVD drive in addition to a powerful microprocessor or advanced add-in PCI Express x16 graphics board. The new system also boasts with advanced integrated 7.1-channel HD audio with Dolby Digital Live! and DTS Connect support.

Besides rich multimedia capabilities, the SG33G6 sports numerous powerful I/O features, including Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g wireless network module, FireWire, Serial ATA, external Serial ATA, Bluetooth+ EDR controller as well as fingerprint reader.

The Shuttle XPC Barebone SG33G6 Deluxe will be available starting from late September. The recommended retail price is €366 (excluding VAT), or about $510.

Currently Shuttle Computer is struggling with lowering sales of its products as the company is no longer the only provide or small systems on the market. While the new SG33G6 Deluxe SFF PC does seem to be an interesting solution, its relatively high price may not allow it to become popular among end-users or system builders.
