Unhappy

Hi

I have a Pentium 200 MHz i want to overclock it to somthing like 300 MHz.

Motherboard: ATC-1020 Intel 430VX

System chipset: Intel 82439VX Triton VX Xhipset, Pentium to PCI Bridge

bus speed: 66 MHz
Multiplier: 3x

in the mother board they only show me how to move the jumpers to get 3x multiplier and 66 MHz bus speed. But i heard that it can do 87 MHz Bus speed and 3,5 or more multiplier but how should i do. I don´t want it to burn out.

Iám a beginer, so please tell me how to do, i know someone knows!.

This motherboard is an A-trend motherboard.

motherboard manual: ftp://ftp.atrend.com.tw/ftppub/Manua...020/1020R2.zip

Take a look at the jumper settings under 2-2-3 CPU CLOCK SETTING This motherboard does not support higher bus speeds over 66Mhz {jumpers 5 and 6 are used}. It does support a 3.5 multiplier {jumpers 9 and 10 are used}.

To give you some perspective I have a Pentium 233mmx which is overclocked to 262.5 Mhz on an Abit AX5 motherboard. MMX Pentium's were more overclocking friendly than non-mmx Pentiums.

What you can do Rippley is change the multiplier to 3.5. This will give you 233Mhz (66Mhz bus speed x 3.5 multiplier}. Make sure you have good cooling for the cpu.

Angry Nothing is correct

The motherboard manual i have only shows how to get the 3x multiplier and thats it.

The program i used to know witch motherboard i have is sisoft sandra and it tells me that it is 1020 but the pictures of the how to move the jumper caps isn´t the same as mine motherboard manual. Nothing is correct.

But thanks for the help anyway.

But now i am so tired of this damn computer so iam going to buy a new one. Thunderbird 1,2 GHz. Can i overclock it?

You need to experiment with the same jumpers that change the fsb settings, as all of the mobo's I have worked with support more fsb's than what the manuals report, you probably won't do much harm to your proc and if you do so what it is only a $15-20 item on the boards. Hope this helps.

Um, I think people are getting to around 1.4 with them. But why? You probably won't notice any big difference. If you're looking for an overclocking challenge, get a Duron 700 and play.

Thumbs up

Go to http://www.overclockers.com and click on "cpu database" and you can search through many submissions of what people got their particular chip to overclock to.

that's crazy, it's amazing how much you can do with AMD chips.
