Need an mp3 accessory

I want an RF transmitter, which is an easy find. However, most cars only have one 12v outlet up front. I'd like to find an RF transmitter that also has a USB output on it so I can run my MP3 off carpower instead of battery.

Anyone know of such an accessory?

edit: found one, but it's not quite as nice as I'd like:

I'll keep looking. Suggestions still welcome.

What type of MP3 player do you have? If you have a semi popular one (Sansa, Creative, iPod, etc), then you can find out specific to your MP3 player's connection.

the transmitter you posted is a piece of crap. (bought something very similar, and the sound quality is awful). I have this one: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/DLO-T...oductDetail.do

It has the specific cables for my player, but it also supports generic MP3 players. There's a USB & aux-in on the bottom. So, it would probably suit your needs. All of the other high-end transmitters I looked at had a USB port for charging. It's probably easiest to go to Best Buy, buy one and try it, and then return it and find it cheaper online!

I have a creative zen. Creative does not offer this kind of accessory that I can find.

BB carries Sandisk and Ipod accessories. The only type I could find that did what I was looking for is built for the proprietary ipod, no USB port.

Where else did you look? I'd like to see some of those high end transmitters.

DLO makes one for the Creative; I bought one for my husband. He has the Zen Vision M.

Best Buy has at least 2 high end FM transmitters for generic MP3 players, because I bought them & returned them. You just have to look a little hard to get past the iCrap.

I also looked at Circuit City & Frys. I guess from the link, you can probably find them at Walmart. Or, you can try a car audio store.

by the way, if you really want to upgrade and splurge, the best option would be to install an aux-in for your car, or buy an after market radio that has one. For me, the FM transmitter was the cheaper easier route.

Good luck!

the zen vision has a proprietary cable for charging. The Zen that I have uses only USB. The item description hints that the charger has a usb port on it, and I would only need to bring my USB cable to the table.

Can you shed some light? That thing looks pretty sweet.

Yes, there's a USB port on there, so it should work for most USB charged MP3 players. I say most because I just remembered that my Creative Zen Micro didn't charge on a usb connection unless it had the proper drivers. It LOOKED like it was charging, with the glowing light & everything, but it would drain the battery overnight.

Try these forums: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...isplay.php?f=4

They're incredibly helpful, and should be able to better assist you with the specifics of your model.
