Quad Core Installation
I bought a retail boxed Quad Core Q6600. It has a very nice cooler. The bottom of the cooler has what appears to be an adhesive. The instructions doesn't show a thing about using silver, so I am assuming that the adhesive will be acceptable. Correct?
I won't be overclocking this CPU. |

You'd be OK with the thermal tape that they use on the retail heatsink.
However personally, I scraped that stuff off of my heatsink and I applied a layer of Arctic Silver 5 directly to my CPU per the instructions on the AS5 website: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appi..._quad_wcap.pdf

I definitely won't be using this new computer to surf the Net. I have been using the computer with Windows 98 for over 5 months now with AVG and Spybot and have gotten no viruses. Of course, it freezes up often but a quick reboot solves everything.
