Unused Floppy Space in Case
I just finished building a SFF Quad Core computer. It has room for two 5.25 drives and two 3.25 hard drives. It also has the usual floppy space.
I would like to insert something into the floppy space just because. I don't use floppies anymore since flash drives came out. Any ideas? |

you can buy one of those 12 in 1 card readers for that space. When md-players were hot, i was gonna buy myself a md drive for that spot, but they were always too expensive...good thing they were, i don't use them anymore. =)
but yeah, i think a 12 in 1 card reader will do you good, and most of them come with 2 extra usb slots, can't have too many of those. lol...also....back when i was researching what to put in that slot, i found a product that was a cup holder for that spot. lol...i found it funny.

You can also mount another hd in there. But always be aware of extra heat in your sff case. I would probably use it as a vent or grab a reader/reader w/floppy like cp said.

Honestly, every now an then a floppy disk becomes useful and I'm glad I still had a floppy drive in there.
I keep my Norton Ghost 2003 boot up on a floppy (although I have figured out a way to get it to work on a CD now). I also run other DOS based programs for diagnostics and updates on floppy as well. More or less, I recently bought a USB floppy disk drive from SurplusComputers.com that really makes having one installed in the case obsolete (in case I just need that format.. plus it comes in handy when using laptops that don't have a floppy by default. )

You can put a LOT of things in there!
Like Cheesypuff said, a multi-format flash reader is very popular, as well as some of these others: Look at what SVC has for 3.5" fan controllers and other devices: http://www.svc.com/fancont35.html I personally have a super I/O panel (USB2, Firewire, Audio Connections) in one of mine, and an HD in the other.
