Anyone here using a Motorola VE20 phone?
I'm considering a replacment for my Sanyo M1 phone, however since Kyocera bought out Sanyo (FTL) the quality of Sanyo phones have fallen off sharply.
So now I have to find some other phone that can compare to my beloved M1. (Dayuum Sanyo for not having "wireless backup" on this phone... otherwise, I wouldn't even bother looking for a new one. ) Originally, I was looking at the Motorola V950, however Sprint told me that I'd have to change phone plans if I wanted that phone... and I really don't want to change my current plan (it fits my needs well..) So they suggested the Moto VE20 phone. Anyone have an opinion on that one? Thanks in advance.

I looked at the Katana Eclipse X... and honestly, something about that phone just doesn't sit right with me.
Kyocera made that phone after buying out Sanyo. I've been a Sanyo diehard for the past 5 years, however this new model seems to be a "cheap shell" of the type of quality I expect from a Sanyo cell phone. My current Sanyo M1 has way more "needed" features than the Katana Eclipse X... which looks more like a "flashy gizmo" moreso than a serious phone. I just wish that my M1 had wireless backup, because if it did, I wouldn't even be looking at phones at all. ![]() Man, it really sucks trying to get a new phone, simply because nothing out there really 100% trumps what I got now... however my fear of losing all of my data in my current phone is sorta forcing my hand at moving to something else. Total suckage... ![]() |

does it have to be "wireless backup"?
can you just backup via cable to your PC? |

The M1 has no backup capability at all. I went to my local Sprint store and all they said I could do was: 1) take my phone to a Sprint repair shop and get a printout of the numbers in the phone or 2) Tranfer my numbers to a new phone (obviously they have software that can do this, but yet they can't download those numbers to an Excel spreadsheet or some other form of electronic backup). It's just downright stupid to have to jump through this many hoops just to protect my data. Generally, I do like Sprint, but this is just silly to me. |

Well I got my new phone activated yesterday...
Nice slim gadget... but it still will take some getting used to its differences from my M1. Up front, I'm pretty "not" happy that Sprint couldn't salvage my (already paid for) and downloaded screensavers and ringers from my old phone. I guess they like diggin' their hands into my pockets... for $2.00 here and there again. So now I have to go and try to remake some new ringtones (cause seriously, I'm not trying to pay them for them again...) Only thing is, I have to convert the music files to m4a format. I'm trying to use this program "Switch" file converter to do this, however for some reason the "freeware" version likes to turn itself off and request an upgrade to the paid version (which honestly, paying about $40 just to do a few ringtones is just too much money...) Oh well, the wonders of upgrading and changing phones... Sheesh!!! Last edited by DarkFury : 02-11-2009 at 07:28 AM. |

You could use http://www.myxer.com/ for free. I used that for some ringtones and it works fine. You don't even have to do any converting, just an upload.

Uploading it to the phone is not a problem for me... just the file conversion. Fortunately, I got Switch to work again, so now I got my ringers (I just hope Switch keeps working... ) |

why is that? Did it do something bad?
So far this one has worked rather nice... It has a much stronger receiver signal than my M1 (I can actually get calls at my office desk with 2 bars.. while my M1 wouldn't even connect to the service). My M1 did have better "sound", but granted it had stereo external speakers... which none of the phones have now. |
