Hi,
I ordered a new MSI K7T Turbo-R motherboard and need some clarifications on how RAID is implemented.

When setting up RAID 0 Stripping, do the two hard drives need to be the same model/manufacturer? Can the two drives have different UDMA speeds, for example will a UDMA 66 drive work with a UDMA 100 drive in RAID 0?

I have read information that indicates it is possible to use drives with different sizes together, and the resulting RAID 0 drive will take on the size of the smaller drive X2, i.e. a 20GB and 30GB drive together will look like 2 20GB drives for a total of 40GB under RAID 0. Is it possible to use the additional 10GB on the 30 GB drive? Can it be partitioned as an extended DOS partition and used for data, in addition to the 20GB primary DOS partition used for the 1/2 of the 40GB RAID 0 drive?

Any help appreciated...

Drives don't have to be the same model, mfr, speed or size. True, they array will take on the size of the smaller drive. It will also take on the speed of the slower drive.

I don't think you'd be able to partition out the extra space in the larger drive, but my memory is a little fuzzy on that point - anyone else?
