If you have the Creative Labs Soundblaster Live audio card, the Cambridge Sounworks FPS2000 Digitals are nice, it produces surround sound however there are only 4 speakers and 1 powered sub. These can be had as low as $120. Also, the Desktop 5.1's are very nice...also made by Cambridge. If you are upgrading from a 2 speaker set then these will be the difference between night and day. Also, the Klipsh V2 400's are some of the best out right now, however they would be above your budget...around $250.
