I'm an MP3 mongrel that gets most of his songs from ripping CDs. I'm currently putting together a new system and i want to find the fastest Digital Audio Extraction drive i can for the price. I know Kenwood makes a 72X CD rom, but i don't care how fast it reads data, just the audio extraction. Hopefully something out there is 35X or better.
Any help is appreciated, thanks |

i've never seen a 35x, but TDK burners rip at 32x.

By all means, get a fast CD-ROM drive. But remember, it's not just the capability of the drive, it's software you use to rip the CDs. Most of my CDs will rip just fine when I use Easy CD-DA Extractor 3, but once in a while (old, scratched CD or some such) I end up with an MP3 that sounds bad. Try it again, same result. In these cases I use Exact Audio Copy to rip a WAV file, then convert that to MP3 with Easy CD-DA Extractor 3. Then I have a good MP3. Just my 2 cents worth......
