I am going to buy a low-end Geforce video card to tide me over until the geforce 3's are affordable. I had pretty much settled on an MX with 32M SDR, but just saw a Geforce256 Pro with 32M DDR for the same price. The only differences I can identify, (besides the sdr/ddr, natch), is the core speed (125/175) and the .18 micron vs the .22 micron. Are these improvements in the MX worth the DDR trade-off? Which card would you recomend?

The GeForce 256 DDR will be a bit faster than the GeForce 2 MX in 1024x768x32bit and higher color resolutions since the GeForce 2 MX begins running out of bandwidth at those resolutions. The GeForce 2 MX as you saw uses a smller fab size of .18 micron and it runs cooler than the GeForce 256 DDR.

I would go with the MX, it's a GeForce2, and the 256 might only slightly beat it as far as FPS, in looks I think the MX might look a bit better
