I'm looking for a digital camera for around $150. Does anybody have suggestions? I was looking at getting the Kodak DC3200 at Amazon for $180 - $30 MIR but then saw some bad reviews for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I think that price range may be a little low for a good quality digital camera.. Although if you can find the 1.3 megapixel cameras around, they may be around that price range..
Just dont expect to print them out and have people think it is a photgraph.. Even with a great printer it will be horribly pixel-icious.. Good luck. Rat. |

I've been looking for one too...
...A good digital camera runs about 300, (but I've been looking for one at least 1.8MP with a digital zoom).
Pay attention to the CMOS/Shutter speed. Many digital cameras have lousy resolution because the shutter speed is too slow.

Hey Bires
Not to be picky, but you should be looking for cameras with Optical zooms rather than digital zooms. If you just use digital zooms, you'll get pixelated images like you wouldn't believe.
Optical zooms are true zoom lenses whereas digital zooms are just software interpolation of pixels. Although, depending on what you are trying to accomplish with you camera, you may be able to get away with just having a digital zoom. When looking to get a digital camera, one of the first questions you have to ask yourself is what you want it for. Pictures to put on a website? You can get away with about 1-2 megapixels. You want them printed out on a good photo quality inkjet? 2 megapixels will get you good 4x5 prints. 3 megapixels will get you good 8x10 prints. I don't have any recommendations on the lower end of the digi-cam spectrum, but if you have any questions on the 2+ megapixel range of cameras, I'll try to answer them for you.

You might want to try the Polaroid PDC-1100 at TigerDirect.com. They have it for $99 after rebate (methinks!) and it's a 1 megapixel. It doesn't do so well on Epinions, but then again, it registers many of the normal complaints (short battery life, lousy with fleshtones). Seems to be a decent option, though: USB, memory expandable, etc. for $100.

...that's what I meant to say (optical zoom) but I was staring at the 60Hz-refresh monitor I use at work (in the public schools), so my brain was all...mooshy.
Thanks for catching that and keeping my misinformation from harming the women and children that we love... |
