Last night, I was given three new-in-box Epson 875 DC printers. (Long story. Has to do with payment on a debt upon which I never expected to collect. But at least my clients aren't paying me in chickens, right?)
I know nothing about the 875 DC, and was wondering whether this printer is a dog, or a gem? I've looked up the specs, and they sound very interesting, but technical specifications only tell half the story when it comes to computer hardware. So at least such often seems to be the case. I plan on eBaying these printers, but if everyone tells me they're fantastic, I might keep one for myself. (I don't know how much they'll go for on eBay. I was told they're normally $299.95, but I had no trouble finding them advertised for about 40% below that, so realistically I'm thinking the three might bring me something in the mid-$400 range. That sound about right?) Last two printers that I bought were Apex deals. I think one was about $12 after rebate, and the other maybe $29. Thanks to Apex, I no longer buy printer cartridges -- when the cartridge is dry, I simply buy a new printer. Costs me less that way. (They're not fantastic printers -- an Epson 440 and an HP Deskjet 610 CL that's still in the box even though I got it back in November -- but they're more than good enough for my purposes.) |

I've got one. It's great for printing pictures. They come out in excellent quality. The black cartrage is very small but not too expensive. It is not available in generic form yet. I'd keep one for myself and use it for graphics if you don't have something better.
