ok my cousin wants a really small pc to replace his current setup (slot p3)

so I suggested an NLX case, and he likes this one here http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1235342209

the only problem is he wants both a dvd and a cd-rw

so i figured that i could put two half height laptop drives in it. so i have 2 ?'s is there any problem with this, and do laptop drives use the standard ide cable

I don't think they're a bad idea, especially in this case. They're not very good performers, speed-wise though. Depends on what he can tolerate.

Pricewatch has both Toshiba and Ricoh models listed.

I gotta say though that using two half-height craptop drives sounds like more fun . I'm not certain, but I think that they do not use standard IDE cables. I've replaced only one craptop HDD, and that had a tiny little thing for a cable.

well he already has a good midtower (p3 socket not sure of speed). He's not a hardcore gamer, hell all he's gonna use this for is MS Office products, Web Surfing, Aim, Email, and thats about it. The most cpu intensive thing he will probably be doing is DVD decoding.

Why he wants a really small pc, I dont know, but I'll try to find out.
