Hey Guys
I just bought the $25 128MB DIMM of PC100 Memory from AccessMicro. It's Zeus Components brand. When I popped it in, in conjunction with my old 128MB DIMM, booting up would show a different ram count every time. Sometimes it would read out 234 Mb System Memory, sometimes 232 Mb, etc. Then I used the new Zeus DIMM by itself and it did the same thing, only counting about 105 MB at boot-time. Also, lots of weird errors and crashes come up when the new Zeus DIMM is in. It's really unstable and unpredictable when the new ram is in I've heard that when the system doesn't "See" all your ram it's a power supply issue (my 200 W power supply is vastly overworked). But my old DIMM by itself does fine, so I think it's probably bad new RAM. Let me know any insight you guys have, and if necessary, a way i could get an exchange for a new DIMM from Zeus Components. Having more ram means using a bit more power.
Yes its likely that ram is bad. This accessmicro ram is cheap stuff that works sometimes and other times not. |

I bought 128MB of PC100 ram from them. The first one wouldn't boot up at all. The second one blue screens my PC. Now I'm just sick and i'm about to give up. It was only 35 bux.. it's not worth the trouble. Moral of the story, buy crucial ram.
