I was about to get the Epson Stylus 880 inkjet printer from the staples website but it said something about a cable not included. Do I need to have a cable for the printer to work? I have an old printer (very old) that i am using now and am pretty sure it must have a cable. could i use this cable or do i have to get one for my new printer? thanks for help.

Epson Stylus 880 Color Inkjet Printer specs at Staples website
Epson Stylus 880 Color Inkjet Printer specs at Epson website The Stylus 880 has both a usb and parallel port. It is likely your old printer is using a parallel port printer cable which will work with your new Epson printer. |

Most likely your old cable will work... just like running Windows 98 on 24MB RAM will "work". Most new printers work better and print faster with cables that conform to the IEEE 1284 standard. You get much faster data throughput. If you use an older cable, you're not likely to get anywhere near the rated print speeds. I always thought it was goofy to buy a nice printer, then shirk on the cable and not be able to use the extra speed you paid for.
My advice: use a USB cable if you can. If not, get an IEEE-1284 parallel printer cable. Mezpin |
