I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Joystick that came with a game port to USB adapter cable thingy. Will this adapter work with, say, a Logitech Wingman joystick, or is it specifically for the MS gamepad. Just kinda curious and am too lazy right now to fingure it out for myself at the moment because I would need to dig up the drivers for the joystick on Logitech's site and install them, so if it doesn't work, I don't want to have wasted the effort. hehe

Probably not. USB adapters that come with mice and joysticks only work because the input device knows they exist. When you put the adapter on the end of the Sidewinder, the gamepad actually starts sending different signals out. Most of the adjustment takes place on the gamepad side... not the adapter side. There are some adapters you can buy that do all that work, but I never trust 3rd party adapters.
That's the hardware side. Your computer also has to know that the joystick is now on the USB port and how to interpret its signals. Won't even get into that. ![]() Mezpin |

Yeah, I figured as much. I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part. Oh well. I guess I will just have to get my lazy ass behind the computer and plug it in. haha
