Question

Hello, I need some help in choosing a new monitor.
I've narrowed my search for the "best" LCD to the following:

Viewsonic VG-175 17.4" LCD (1280x1024@60)
Pros:
-MVA (Multi Domain Vertical Alignment) which gives great viewing angle, and most importanlty fast lcd response for smooth video.
-17.4" is significantly larger than most 17" LCDs
-400:1 contrast ratio is highest i've seen on an LCD
-Highly rated by users on cnet.com
-Nice price point at $1100
Cons:
-No DVI input which would be nice because my new Geforce 3 has the DVI ouput.
-Not really 18.1"

Sony SDM-M81 (a-SI Active Matrix?)
Pros:
-18.1" is very large
-1280x1024@85HZ (Does this make up for possible lack of MVA?)
-160' viewing angle may imply use of MVA over IPS(170')
-FlexRes Claims to be superior thechnology in scaling screens to 1280x1024 lcd size.
-Competetive Price $1350
-Accepts DVI-I and DB-15 connections
-Looks super sweet
-is from Sony, a reputed maker of digital video stuff
Cons:
-Unknown technology of LCD (In-Plane Switching, or MVA?)
-Sony Tech support couldn't tell me what tech was used

I'm very much sold on the idea of "MVA" from both the literature on Viewsonic's and Fujitsu's websites as well as Tom's Hardware (http://www4.tomshardware.com/display/index.html) that gave a full breakdown of the differing technologies involved in LCD displays. Basically MVA allows wider viewing angles with faster pixel response time(~20ms) that results in smoother video and a brighter display with outstanding contrast.

So, if anyone out there knows if the Sony employs MVA or some other proprietary technology that is equivalent, I think that's the monitor for me

And, of course, I'm always open to suggestions of other monitors that would meet the following specs:
-17 to 18.1 LCD 1280x1024
-Excellent image quality for editing video and professional graphics
-Excellent reproduction of colors (comparable to CRT)
-Must not look "bad" when viewing video
-DVI input a definite plus
-MVA or similar technology

Thanks in advance,
CJ
