great review
Great review, Darth. Finally the graphs are more visible (thanks for the click for bigger picture links). As for the DYI connector on the Morpheus, I believe, since the product is "Made By Gamers, For Gamers," it does not need it (hardcore gamers as well as everyday gamers). I believe the LCD monitors as of now do not have high refresh rates compared to its older brother, the CRTs. While the LCDs are great due to its space saving feature, the refresh rates are terrible and cannot keep up in games. I don't think any hardcore gamer has an LCD anyway. SO, the review should have gotten that extra .5. 10 of out 10.
Good thing, 3DFX is back, but better although they are using the Nvidia Gen. 3 chip. Any calls when the Osiris will come out? I'd prefer the Ultra due its lower price than the Morpheus |

Yeah the LCD connection is not very important to gamers but it is a greowing market segment. That .5 off is really a combo of the lack of DVI connector and the fact that its availability is limited right now

I am curious
Why is it that all the cards seem to perform exactly the same? Is there any card that has any enhancements that make it more worthwhile to buy than the other card? I don't think that was true for the GF2 series when they were made, but maybe I am wrong. |

ASUS A7M266 RAID ?
Darth, great review, as I'm putting a new system together right now, I've been in the market for a Ge-3 for a while.
(yeah, I just ordered a morpheus!)My question is re: the test rig. Is ASUS now making an A7M266 with RAID or did you use an ad-on like the Promise? I've been reading a lot of MOBO reviews lately and have not seen an A7M266 w/RAID. If so, can you tell me where you got it? Thanks, 2Chaos |

Osiris based boards should be shipping out this week
Tv-out resolution is 800x600 with the MORPHEUS card. Sorry no 1024x768 Most cards perform almost identically if they are using the same chipset. I used the Iwill SIDERAID 100 card as Asus does not have an A7M266 with RAID If I am not mistaken wasn't Scott Sellers the CEO of 3dfx? I know Brian was one of the exec's but not sure what his position was. |

Dunno if any of this is correct
1. is GeForce3 gonna get a 128 ram chip? 2. also heard that most games cant really use all of GeForce3's technology 3. Should i go for the GeForce3 64 or just gor for a GeForce2 ultra? 4. I heard that the drivers on the Visiontek or leadtek.. forget which one weren't very good thus the cheap price... are the ones on the Morphs better or just another copy? 1.) I haven't heard anything about a 128MB GeForce 3. 64MB is sufficient.
2.) Current games cannot use GeForce 3 technology like pixel and vertex shaders. But Quincunx {a form of anti-aliasing GeForce 3 supports} can be used in games. 3.) I'd go for a GeForce 3. 4.) Please use the latest nvidia reference drivers. ----- IrishSS: I looked at 3dpowers online site. I had concerns it was secure even though the site said it was. http://eshop.absolutemm.com/butik/index.asp |

Actually, I belive most people have had better experience with the 12.60's than the 12.90's. However, usually the latest ones are the best ones to use.

Added note...
With most Asus cards it's best to stick with the Asus drivers. A friend with a v7100 and my v7700 have experience big drops in frame rates when using any drivers other than the Asus ones. Right now Asus is on revision 6.49 for their drivers, but they work better than trying to use version 12.60 from nVidia. If you use an Asus card and are experiencing good luck with the nVidia drivers, please let me know what you are doing. I would like to have version 12.60 running instead of version 6.49. |

Note on ordering Morpheus card... If you want one, I think Im gonna have an extra one. I ordered one directly from Absolute, only to find they are outta stock and wont get any till about July 14th. So I got one from Components direct, and although the kinda jack you on shipping, you all know how eager you are to get your new components and build your new sys...
Oh ya, the note... Just go pay the lil extra $$$ for S&H and get it from Components Direct. Absoulte's estore is kinda screwy, and they have very limited stock... |

Ya... I kinda took a chance on it. I used a CC, so at least I have a little protection. Like I said, the eagerness took over the rational part of my thinking...
