I've been on backorder from upgrade source since may 8 for athlon 1.4 266fsb. My shopping bot shows no one else has it either. Does anybody know if there is a manufacturing problem or maybe I've got a "retailer" problem, I've been thru 3 estimated recieve dates, the last being june 21.

I think you might be having a problem with that specific vendor. I ordered a 1.4 GHz Athlon a few days ago and my order status says shipped and the UPS tracking number states that my scheduled delivery date is July 2nd. (I don't know why it takes a whole week for a package to get from NY to TX, but what can ya do??)

I got a 1.4 GHz AYHJA Thunderbird with the "Y" stepping for $178 WITH a 1-year vendor warranty from http://www.fticomputer.com . I could find some cheaper prices, but this was the only retailer that specified the core stepping and a long warranty.

Alright, first there was the AXIA core and the AXIA core with "Y" stepping was the most desirable. The "Y" stepping is represented by the first character of the 3rd line of the die lot on the chip. Supposedly the lots with letters beginning the third line will overclock better than lots with numbers beginning the line, and supposedly "Y" is the best letter to have. I guess the fab was just running more hot for those lots.
Then came the AYHJA core. The AYHJA with "Y" stepping is now the most desirable chip to have, for the same reasons as mentioned above. I hope I have that all correct, because that is what I based my decision on. ![]() |

um, well, the CPU will be here on July 2nd, the motherboard is already here, so I just need to wait on the watercooling stuff... and it looks like some of it was backordered for a few days, so I am not sure when it will be shipping. I'll let you know if I find out.
