I think I'll go with Jeffbx on this one
The lag probably isn't the fault of your internet connection but the fault of your outdated system. |

Oh not my point at all
I know a radeon is an awesome card I would rather have my brothers 64DDR Radeon any day over my GeForce2 GTS 32mb. Serving takes up A LOT of system resources though, and even if your system runs the game fine when you are a client problems might arrize when you are hosting. |

give your ISP a ring...
the fault could also be in the drivers for your cable modem or the modem itself. Keep in mind to host a game you have a great deal of packets moving away from your system. Most home users modems/systems are optimized for downstream connections (to your computer).
Something to think about...

get a separate computer for a dedicated server. hehe. I have an old Compaq Proliant 2500 server that I use on occasion for a Counter Strike server. It has one Pentium Pro 200 cpu, 256MB EDO memory and 5x4.3GB scsi 2 drives set up in RAID-0. Running Win2k. Now.. this thing has some crappy video, but that doesn't matter when dedicated.
The thing runs perfect. ![]() |

it has alot to do with you're processor man, nothing to do with the pings. 400mhz just isn't enough. You could probably get away with 500 or 600 though that's the weird part. It's all about mhz when you're serving.

Sorry man - didn't mean to dis your radeon... but the rest of your system needs to be updated. You can use that machine to either play or to serve, but I wouldn't do both on it. Not enough processor for that - more RAM wouldn't hurt, either.
