Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forums and haven't been real up to date with my hardware know how. (The last time I heard, PIII 500 were really really good.) Anyway, nowadays, there are ATA100, 7200RPM Hard drives , RAM (SDRAM, RDRAM, DDRAM, 256, 512, 1GHz etc) and I don't know a hoot about video cards ( ok, I think the All in One Radeon is the bomb!).

I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on how I could best spend around $1500 for a complete computer setup (everything, 19"monitor, case, scanner, dvd drive, cdrw, printer, ram, mb, cpu, etc) or enlighten me as to how much would get me the best bang for my buck.

If not, perhaps a good website where I could do more research on what is good these days.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

Wow. I'm almost in total agreement with all of that. Needs a sound card though (unless you're content with the stuff built onto the motherboard).

The only thing I have a problem with is the delta fan on the heatsink. Maybe a bit too loud for most people's tastes. Definitely an overkill unless you wanna overclock.

Looks good to me, I would go with a Cannon printer instead, I like water fast inks. The HP has water soluable inks. But the model you chose is a good one if you want to go with HP.

If it gets wet after drying, it won't run.

excellent looking system, but I favor the more expensive KG7-RAID, or maybe the MSI PRO2, I am a big Abit and MSI fan

Question A question about the motherboard selection

price aside... whats the difference between the Gigabyte GA-7DXR and the EPOX 8KTA3+. they both have very similar features but use different raid controller chips.

Thanks

The person you need to talk with is Darth, who is pretty darn busy right now, I understand. But if you email him at darth@gotapex.com, eventually he will respond.

Personally, I'd be willing to review a system of yours, but He needs to be the main contact, and make the approval.

Blessed by the overclocking big man himself. Thats why Darth always gets a good overclock.

Yes Darth is quite busy now. He's melting down more cpus and videocards.

{Sees Darth's eyes light up at the specs of this system.}
