Question

I recently bought a barebone system with the ECS K7AMA motherboard. I followed instructions on how to set up jumpers, install hardware(ie video card) and run set up from MAINBOARD version 6.1 S cd-rom. Unfortunately when I tried to install drivers from MAINBOARD version 6.1 S cd-rom, for FB PCTEL AMR modem, it would not work. All other devices were detected ( 256 DDR Ram, Video Card, 1.133 AMD 266 FSB processor, hard drive, etc.) by Windows 98 se. Windows displays unknown PCI device. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling modem to no avail. Would you please advise me what I could do to resolve this. Everything is working except modem. Could the BIOS need flashing? Windows doesn't seem to detect the AMR slot. All Input would be appreciated.

ECS K7AMA solution

Hi mate,

Your motherboard is fairly new, and I doubt many own it. Anyway, try browsing other message boards for reviews or feedbacks on this motherboard here http://www.messageking.com/ShowTopic...7ama&Relation=

If still your question remain unanswered, try performing other searches. Hope you'll find it.

Chill out man.

I am assuming....

.....that you do have the drivers for that AMR modem and that when it asks for the drivers you are pointing it in the right direction. If you are doing this and it is still giving you problems it just might be the card itself. I doubt it is the motherboard at all because it is reconizing a unknown device which sounds like you got everything else installed expect for the modem so that has got to be it. AMR modems are not all that great either, they run off of processor power and software and I have heard numerous complaints at the sub-par performance out of them. My suggestion go out get you a hardware based PCI modem and forget you ever had an AMR.

Think I am going to follow Razz's opinion. yes I had drivers, yes I know it was cpu dependent, but it came with a package deal. I was going to use it as long as I could. Guess I did lmao.
