Hi all,
I'm not able to share files and I don't know what the problem is. Here's my setup. I have cable modem coming into a netgear rt314 router. I have two computers connected to this router. Comp1 is running WinME and Comp2 is running Win98. They are in the same workgroup yet network neighborhood on one computer doesn't show the other computer. If I try to access a share (\\comp1\files) from Comp1 using the 'Add Network Place' wizard, I can get to the step where it asks me to name this place but then it says the network name cannot be found. Both computers have Client for MS Network and File and Printer Sharing. I am also able to ping each computer (by ip address only) from the other. Router 192.168.0.1 Comp1 192.168.0.2 Comp2 192.168.0.3 Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! |

1st Make sure that you have something shared
2nd sometimes it helps to share your "My Documents" don't know why, its goof. 3rd try having the computers automatically specify ip addressing, then, after the restart, bring up a console and run "winipcfg" and make that both computers pull a 192.168 address.
