i have a sony dsc-p1...it's awesome.
takes incredible pictures at 3.3 megpixals

It is also really small, you can fit it in your pocket...this is important...cuz you can have a really good camera, but if its a pain in the neck to carry around...you'd never have it when you needed it! I can take my sony anywhere.

the battery is really crazy...I spend 5 days in hawaii...taking pictures and didn't have to recharge my camera a single time! for those that have digcams...they know, battery life is so important...nothing like needing to take a shot and having the camera come up without power.

for a small camera, the night shots are pretty good as well...

finally...usb connection...really nice and fast.

i'm so happy with this camera

My budget is around $400 or less.....
I'd like to be able to print the picture I take.
I was looking into the canon S600 or 800 I think.
The one with eight idividual ink. : )

Thanks for the info.......
I just wanted a damn digital camera...perferably a compact one like
the Canon Elf.

i was deciding between the elf and the sony...right before i made the purchase...someone mentioned the poor quality of the elf, so i went with the sony.

no regrets...its a great camera...
prices have dropped...you can get it for about 570.00...

the canon elf is alot cheaper now...but I don't think you are getting as much camera...

chosenfool is right about the memory thing...i forgot about that. I don't have anything else that uses CFmemory or Sony memory...my handspring is busted...so i have no need for compactFlash. if you have a lot of things...or plan on getting things that use compactFlash...then it would make a lot of sense to get stuff that uses the same memory...

For $400 or so, I think the Kodak DC4800 is probably the best bet, quality wise. It's a 3.1megapixel with 3x optical zoom and compact flash media. It's a nice small-ish size (though not as small as some) and reasonably inexpensive.

I have my eye on that Sony DSC-F707. That thing looks incredible. I've had the Dimage7 for about 3 weeks now. The 7x optical zoom and 5.2megapixels absolutely rocks, but it sucks down batteries like mad and I like being able to take pictures over my head (like in crowds). You can only do so with swivel bodies or viewers (a'la Nikon 995 or Canon G2).

Thanks guys.........

I stopped by Fry's and Best Buy today...........
and saw the Cannon Elph S110 ....ahhhhhh
at 499.99 was oh Shlt.
I like how small this thing is and durable to I hope.

Okay here is another question. Compact Flash Card (thick card) and the (thin memory card is called what?)......enlight me please on which is which....

I saw a site that was offering the S110 for $389 not to fond of ordering over the net. I'm kinda curious how they hand extended warranty if I wish to purchase one.

Im gonna take a look at the nikon now...d@mn you guys.....
I limit myself to Cannon and Fuji......guess adding one more won't hurt

APEX I'm kinda scared to ask you how much that 5.1 megapix camera cost. ; )
To bad I don't have enough change in my wallet for it.

thanks chosenfool

more review to do......

Why do digital camera price fluctuate so much?

And whats the deal with USA model and none USA model.

I am down to the Canon s110 and Fuji 40i.

the Fuji has MP3 and the battery is not proprietary going for it (thanks chosen ) .
Cannon...zilch : (

i have a HP photosmart 315 2.1 mp camera, its nice, but its basic, i take nice shots with it for my skating website riskaters.moonfruit.com (shameless plug). quality is nice for how much i paid (350$) but 8 mb wasnt enough so i bought a 128 mb CF card, very nice, on web quality i get 1000 pics per format and on super HQ i get around 200, good camera, battery life is good too, been using it for 4 days now almost all the time and still not much drain going on
