are there any case modders here???
I found a site, gideontech.com, and they're all about case modding...
I was wonderin if anyone here in the gotapex community was a case modder, and if you could give me any tips, as it seems interesting, and I'd like to get into it ![]() |

I put three fans on mine system. Two on the side over the CPU and vid and a blowhole up top. Lowered my case temperature dramatically. If you want I have some templates for cutting fan holes. There quite good and take all the guess work out if it.

I prefer to use a drill with a hole saw attached when i need exact cutes. Plus its a lot easier and cleaner than a dremel.

Remember....
....when modding for cooling, CPM in should equal CPM out. That means if you have a fans pulling 80-cubic feet per minute out, have another fan(s) pushing 80 CFM in. This will reduce case noise and cause your fans to work at their most efficient.
Also, use rubber washers between your fan screws and hard drive screws to insulate them from the case-also reduces vibration and noise. (a few thoughts from a guy with a really wierd looking chassis)

not *exactly* the same
(I responded to the other post, and read this one...thought I'd) copy and paste to save time.

Over time you may have noticed some threads have the same question asked. So to save time, just cut and paste what was said before and modify when necessary.

why has everyone jumped on the case modding bandwagon? It just seems like it popped up out of nowhere. As long as my system runs cool, i'm happy.

I put some fans on the side of my case because i couldn't find 2 places for the ones provided with my zalmans. i think they look quite nice.

been around for a while...
...If my fading memory serves, it really started shortly after we realized we could overclock a pentium CPU with a 75, 83, 95 MHz FSB. Because we tweaked with our systems so often, and had to use jumpers to do so, we frequently left the case's cover off. Hmm...what to do with all those ugly cables....and rolling and covering cables with colorful tape popped up.
I'm in the middle of a project now, and I'm looking at putting mirrors in my case, with back-lit LEDs. (Like a disco, baby). |
