Lightbulb SCSI makes me crazy

Hey There,
I just got a great deal on a 10K RPM hard drive, its a
Wide Ultra2 SCA LVD SCSI Hard Drive

I don't know what half of that means, and have not been able to find a controller which lists this as a supported device. Is this some kind of wierd hard drive? Where can i get a controller for it?
Thanks
RB

Well, LVD is good - that's pretty much the standard for SCSI drives these days (low voltage differential - it's the drive type).

However, SCA may give you a problem - SCA is Single Connector Attachment, which means the drive was intended for use in a hot swap backplane. This is where you just slide the drive into the front of a server or drive array or whatever, and the single connector makes the data AND power connections.

What you need is an 80-pin to 68-pin adapter (SCA is 80 pins, and most SCSI adapters these days are 68-pin). I've never bought one of these however - perhaps someone else has done this conversion?

I ran a couple of SCA drives w/adapters for awhile and had no problems with them. Here's what you're looking for: http://www2.warehouse.com/product.as...VW23483&cat=pc

BUT -
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1285667627
same item (0r comparable) for $11

I got a 9gig Ultra2 wide SCA LVD (10,000 RPM!) drive for $41
I Thought it was a fatty deal, so here it is: (ebay auction)
