CPU Fan suggestions for Athlon MP?
I recently purchased the Tyan Tiger MP motherboard, along with two Athlon 1600 MP CPUs. I'm looking for a good (QUIET) cpu/fan combo for both cpus. I do play games, so there will be some intense cpu usage (ie. good cfm if possible) but I also want to stress quietness. I'm not very good at picking out coolers so i'm turning to your guys' help.
Thanks! |

One suggestion would be to follow the link from this thread: http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showth...threadid=32955 (great deal on socket A HSF)
and go to the SVC Golden Gate page. On that page you can look at the fan list and get an idea of what kind of noise the various fans produce. If you are concerned about noise, you'll probably won't want to get above the mid-30 dbs. The Socket A cooler list at http://www.coolerguys.com/cpucool/duron.shtml also contains links to many review sites which in turn will often compare various coolers (including noise stats). One off-topic thing (from your username): does the name Cimcorp mean anything to you?

Newp, sorry... Doesn't ring a bell. My username comes from my old idiotic Novell Administrator (before I took his position =)) he used this program called BULKLOAD, and it turned my real name "John Malcolm" into "jmalm". When a friend of mine named "Dominique Parantino" had his login name: "dparantino". Odd nonetheless.

Thanks for your reply. I worked with a guy there whose name could easily be formed into jmalm. I had to ask just in case we had both stumbled into the same forum. Good luck on your cooler quest.
