Fix an ASUS K7V (HELP!!)

So I previously had an ASUS K7V mobo with an 850 mhz Athlon (worked like a charm). I got a new mobo and processor for another machine and just left the parts in my old one except for the hard drive. Just tried to put together the same system for a friend using my previously working ASUS. I see the green light on the mobo so I know I am getting power, but when I press the power button on the case nothing happens. Tried to reseat the cable from the mobo to the case and still nothing. I know that I should at least hear a fan or two working and nothing is happening. Any suggestions? Also if I cannot get this thing to work any suggestions on a cheap motherboard capable of running Athlon 850 processor.

Thanks all you G|A readers!!

Yup...power switch cable has already been flipped.
Temp is about 80 today. You must be near Cupertino and cold.

you know that switch on the back of your PSU? Is it switched to the ON position?

secondly, make sure you have the power switch cable on the right plug... if so try flipping it the other way around.

thirdly, is your ATX power connector on correctly, double check.

Bah... I just now realized you're already getting power to the mobo.

hmmm... ok try my second suggestion.

You know... Sometimes I wonder if guys from this forum who have been around for a while make up new nicks and post trick questions, just to screw with our minds.

Sorry Guys (ABIT on the brain)

Correction... yes way back when I had ABIT BH6 with celeron 300a. Must have been remembering the good old days of overclocking to 450.

The motherboard in question is an ASUS K7V with AMD 850 (not overclocked)....any suggestions on a cheap alternative mobo or a way to get this one running again?
