I was wondering how often i should be replacing the thermal compound i use between the cpu and the heatsink. i'm using a GlobalWIN WBK68 Heatsink and artic silver thermal compound right now and the temps start @ 25C then rise up to 38-45C after 30mins. is that normal and between normal temps that i should be getting? thanks for the help.

Personally, I don't replace the thermal compound. Once its on right, it stays on. No need to keep screwing around with the cpu, especially with tbirds. Unless there is a compelling reason to replace the thermal compound.
When your computer first turns, your parts will have just started running. So everything will cool. After running for a while, the cpu will get to its running temperature. 38-45C is okay. |
