I was drooling over the posting on the deals page regarding the Dell 20.1" LCD display. Although I'd agree it's a great deal, it's unfortunately a bit over my budget. I did check out Dell's page, and I found the 1702FP (17") for $575 shipped after all the discounts were applied. This seems like a pretty good price to me. The only problem is that I am a bit leery of LCD's...I've presently got a NEC FP1370 - it's a 21" CRT that I'm very happy with...the only problem is that it's extremely large. The idea of LCD's being easier on the eyes is appealing as well. Can anyone offer any recommendations, advice, etc.? Has anyone else been skeptical of LCD's (especially when watching DVD's or gaming) but gone ahead and purchased one with good results? I anxiously await your responses...
Thanks, and merry Christmas! Trey |

Personally, if I were you, I'd wait. I think that the trend so far is that flat panels continue to get cheaper. If you have a 21" right now, I'd say stick with it, atleast for another year, or until an OUTSTANDING flat panel deal comes out. I'm not saying that this is not a great deal, but it obviously doesn't fit your budget.

LCD's are no good for playing games due to its low refresh rate.
But it looks better in all other desktop applications. Neither CRT or LCD is good for watching TV or DVD. What works best in a large screen TV. |
